Local contacts

If we have another big organized day of leafletting in the future, this page will contain the list of local contacts. For now, it shows how things stood after the leafletting on the 6th of October, with the full contact details removed for the moment. If you need to contact any of the local organizers for the listed towns and cities, let me know.

This page contains the list of local area contacts for our proposed day of action against copy-protected CDs this Saturday (October 6th).

The people and groups listed below have already expressed an intention to hand out leaflets on Saturday in their local area. If you are thinking of leafletting in the same area, get in touch with them. You can then pool resources and maybe organise something bigger than you could have done on your own.

As I mentioned in the E-mail, even a single person handing out 500 flyers in their local town centre will make a huge difference. With a larger group, you could cover all the major record stores in your locality. If there are even more people, you could make placards and get even more public attention. It's up to you.

If you are planning to do some leafletting in your local area, and your area is not listed, please let me have your details so that I can add them. E-mail these details to me at this E-mail address. I need:

  • The locality you plan to leaflet
  • Your name, or the name of your group
  • Contact details (either an E-mail address or phone number, or both)

Here are the local contacts to date:

NOTE: Contact details have been removed now the event has passed to reduce risks of them being picked up by spammers. If you need to contact anyone, please let me know.

  • Birmingham city centre
  • Brighton
  • Cambridge
  • Edinburgh city centre
  • Glasgow
  • Leeds
  • London
  • Newcastle upon Tyne (city centre)
  • Rugby

Some additional notes:

If you can't help on the day, but you can help with duplication of leaflets (for example, if you can get leaflets duplicated cheaper than copy-shop prices), please get in touch with your local group. This can be a very valuable way to help.

If you need to change the contact details for a locality, perhaps because two groups have merged, please let me know and I'll sort it out. Also let me know if there are any errors or omissions.

Also, when you have made some plans, let me know where you are planning to meet, and at what time, and I'll post that information as well so that even people who hear about it at the last minute can still turn up and help.

After the day itself, it would be good if you could let me know how things went - how many people you had leafletting, and how many leaflets you handed out - and I'll compile the results to post to the CDR list. There is nothing more impressive than statistics, right ?

Thanks for your time, and best of luck !
